Reie
festival

28–30 AUG 2026

Reiefestival comes with second edition from 28 to 30 August 2026

After a successful first edition in 2023, the Reiefestival will return to Bruges in 2026. This triennial arts festival, which connects performing arts with the city’s rich heritage, will take place from 28 to 30 August 2026. The programme will be composed of a combination of new creations from an open call and existing, recent creations. The deadline for the open call passed on 15 May.

Theme: ‘Flow’

Flow is movement, energy and transformation. It refers to the power of water, the impact of electrical energy, the flow of people and ideas, as well as invisible forces that shape the world and history. Bruges is a city with a deep-rooted heritage, but heritage only really lives when it enters into dialogue with the present and the future. That is why we are looking for artists who take up the theme of ‘FLow’ and Bruges’ heritage sources and give them an innovative interpretation.

Inspiration box

Even a city steeped in history like Bruges is in constant change. In cooperation with Bruges’ heritage partners, we put together an inspiration box as a working tool for artists who submitted a new creation via our open call. The Reiefestival thus invites them to work with history and heritage in an innovative way.
