Reie
festival

28–30 AUG 2026

Reiefestival comes with second edition from 28 to 30 August 2026

After a successful first edition in 2023, the Reiefestival will return to Bruges in 2026. This triennial arts festival, which connects performing arts with the city’s rich heritage, will take place from 28 to 30 August 2026. Artists can already participate in the open call that will shape the programme. They will work on the central theme of ‘Flow’.

Theme: ‘Flow’

Flow is movement, energy and transformation. It refers to the power of water, the impact of electrical energy, the flow of people and ideas, as well as invisible forces that shape the world and history. Bruges is a city with a deep-rooted heritage, but heritage only really lives when it enters into dialogue with the present and the future. That is why we are looking for artists who take up the theme of ‘FLow’ and Bruges’ heritage sources and give them an innovative interpretation.

Inspiration box

Even a city steeped in history like Bruges is in constant change. In cooperation with Bruges’ heritage partners, we put together an inspiration box as a working tool for artists. The inspiration box can serve as a starting point. As an artist, you are certainly not bound by the inspiration in the box. The inspiration is demonstrable, but the artistic translation is free. The festival is an invitation to work with history and heritage in an innovative way.
