*Kanaal* takes the audience to a riverbank, where a canal both connects and separates. Waterways were created by humans to facilitate movement, but they also form a boundary between two sides. Through binoculars, the audience gazes across to the opposite bank, where a row of houses sets the scene for what slowly unfolds.

What begins as an intimate concert by the musicians of Zwerm gradually evolves into an unexpected theatrical experience. Through the live music and the unique setting, everyday and chance occurrences take on new meaning. From a distance, a game of watching and being watched unfolds, in which the audience is free to unashamedly peek at the neighbors, their habits, and their carefully manicured lawns.

Kanaal straddles the line between concert, performance, and gathering. What begins as a quiet observation culminates in a shared experience that ultimately turns into a celebration.

Marie’s Bath creates visual experiential theater in which the audience’s immersion has a self-reflective effect. The interplay between fiction and reality, performed at a specific location , creates a sense of confusion. The audience is invited to take a closer look at reality, with all elements present oat the location may or may not be part of the play. This form of theater—immersing the audience in a created reality—offers a completely different experience than a regular performance where you find yourself in a theater where the stage takes center stage.

Zwerm is an electric guitar quartet that continually collaborates with composers, visual artists, theater makers, and choreographers. Zwerm has never pursued a one-dimensional musical profile and re-examines itself with every new project. Over the past 15 years, the quartet has balanced, among other things, experimental pop/rock, interpretations of English Renaissance music, contemporary classical, and music theater. The common thread is not so much a specific stylistic approach, but rather a shared curiosity about all kinds of music. For this performance, they have drawn inspiration from Italian folk music and, as a special treat, will be playing mandolins.

In the past, Zwerm has collaborated with, among others, the theater artists from Walpurgis, Post Uit Hessdalen, the dance company ECCE, and visual artists Benjamin Verdonck & Lucas Van Haesbroeck. In addition, the quartet collaborated with musicians, composers, and producers from all over the world. Zwerm has performed in Europe, the U.S., Mexico , and Iran. The group regularly performs at international festivals.
